by hurricane sandy but beginning to resume operations slowly. this morning, laguardia airport, completely flooded during the storm, reopened limited service office jfk and newark opened. tom kos tell la made his way to laguardia overnight. what are you seeing there? >> reporter: this is the good news. actual -- we've got passengers. we've got people pulling up to the curbs and importantly planes on the ramps. we were here with the first plane landed here at laguardia. two runways here running and operational. delta planes here, american, air tran p so the big players are moving in. us airways hoping they can get up and running tomorrow. it's a truncated schedule today. it's not a full operation. but the hope is, it's a start and it will continue over the coming days. jfk and newark, also of course up and running. let me show you what they had to overcome here at laguardia. take a look at the flooding that we have seen here. this week, because of hurricane sandy, and in some cases water up to the jet bridge, so they had to clean all of that out. they had to make sure electronics, lights, e

sandy. he taped a bunch of radio calls yesterday. did tom joiner this morning. 10 satellite interviews this afternoon. and we didn't want to tell him this on the plane but he's going back to do satellite this afternoon. between that playing some basketball. he's busy but relaxed. again, i think he feels he's in a good place. we have made the case in this race for building this economy from the middle out, moving this economy forward, and juxtapose that with mitt romney's theory of extending tax breaks to the wealthiest as a way of building our economy and we know what happened the last time we did that, it ended in economic devastation. we have a strong case that we're making today on election day. >> and finally, robert, if the president is fortunate enough to be re-elected, what do you think his first priorities are, especially since most likely if he is re-elected it's go to be a status quo, potentially a democratic still, but most certainly a heavily partisan and republican house. >> right. well look, i think first and foremost, everybody understands the fiscal cliff issues that we

afterwards. besides that you've got the recovery from hurricane sandy the president will have to deal with as well. there are big issues that need to be taken on immediately. >> been hearing de harry reid from the i talked to eric cantor yesterday, no give on their going in positions. >> no. >> but after an election dofast? >> things get real in aurry and bill's touched on a of them. the fiscal cliff is just the beginning of the many cl that the nexnd i will bill to this extent the day after the president obama, they call harry reid if majority leader and call speaker bainer if he's still the office, no cameras, no press, no highfalutin photo op and get real about sroface. cuts the fiscal the debt ceiling all these things will be on that desk waiting and the president and hie going to have to come clean and honestd say gentlemen, this is going to be executive leadership here. i'm the commander in chief o goif chief of these are things i need out of the house and senate to get this done. i don't think we can afford to wait another four ys is a real moment. >> yo
